On this post I will be sharing my day 3 & 4 & 7. Updates for the #Summerlovin13 read-a-thon. To see day 1 & 2 as well as my goals and updates post CLICK HERE.

UPDATE: >>>  Well, day 5 and 6 went out the window when my life became super busy. So now I will be skipping to day 7 (today) and doing a final wrap up here as well for this read-a-thon. Day 7 and wrap is at the bottom of this post.

Books completed:

A Really Awesome Mess by Trish Cook & Brendan Halpin*

Reading now:
Shymers by Jen Naumann

Day 3: July 3rd, 2013
  • “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee” Participation Post:
  • Introduce us to your favorite fictional female – What does she look like? Is there an actress that you think of when you think of the character? Is she tough or timid? You could do a mock interview with your character, or create a bio/resume for her.

Sophie Mercer from HEX HALL series.

This is Sophie Mercer and she is one bad ass witch. Hex Hall is a "paranormal beings" boarding school of sorts. A place to learn magic, take classes, make friends but most of all house some of the most powerful creatures in the world. Sophie lives amongst fairies, vampires, werewolves, witches like herself and more.

The reason I choose this amazing female protagonist is because she is strong, brave, a great judge of character, kind to others and funny as hell heck (oops!) Sophie always wins in fights and never gives up. Oh and she had such GOOD taste in men. *swoon* She sure knows how to pick them. *sigh, Archer* (:

  • “Tears on My Pillow” Participation Post:
  • Share a quote from your current read or tell us about a book that really pulled on your heart strings. What was it about that book/quote that made you cry?
I am only 130 pages into reading this book and once already I cried. I can't tell you why because it would ruin the story for those who haven't read it but I will share a few sentences from where I am reading now.

My Legs and arms couldn't move. Black and gols spots buzzed in front of my eyes. I painted until I must of passed out, for I don't remember a single other thing about the night besides a dream.

A nightmare about a bloodstained sky.

Day 4: July 7th, 2013
  • Graduation Day!
  • List your accomplishments, big and small.
  • Did you make some new friends? Call them out.
  • Then hop around and congratulate the other participants on their successes.

Well I started out the week going good but by the end of the week my reading and posts kinda fell flat.
I did end up reading at least two of the books I wanted to. Which were:

A Really Awesome Mess by Trish Cook & Brendan Halpin*
In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters

I starting reading Shymers but am only a few pages in. I do feel some of the "laziness" in reading for this week was my choice in books. I maybe should have chosen different books, ones I was more in the mood to read.

No, I didn't make any new friends...*my fault* I was not as social as I normally am during these types of events. Like I said, I was busy during much of the week because I had family in town visiting for a few days from Florida. I hope to do better next time. Although, I must thank everyone who came by my blog to visit. You GUYS ROCK! I will return the favor asap.

Day 3 Mini-Challenge:

Page 99 Test challenge hosted by Reviewing Wonderland

  • The object of the game is to pick a book you have not yet read, turn to page 99 and read that page.
  • Then you give a synopsis of that page and tell us if, based only on that page, would you want to read this book?
  • Use a synopsis ONLY with spoilers.

The next book I will be reading.

Here is what I take from page 99:

There are two girls named Leanne and Clover. I feel that the year is much further into the future because they talk of flying cars and how they miss driving them. I assume the time period has jumped into the more distant future where they live now as both girls speak of this as a past event and luxury they no longer have. Somehow (not sure why) both girls have received access to drive one (a car) and begin to reminisce about how it was. Clover wishes that her brother could to ride in one and perhaps be jealous if he knew.

Day 4 Mini-Challenge:

Book Spine Poetry Challenge @ Oh, Chrys!
Even through this mini-challenge is over (I missed it, boohoo), I still wanted to do it. :)

  •  All you have to do is create a poem, spanning any topic or length using the titles on book spines.

Day 7 Mini-Challenge:

Cover Guessing Game hosted by Effortlessly Reading
