The Way to Never is way better than the first book, although the first book contained more story. It was really nice seeing how Nathan and Lenora's lives turned out to be. From being a loner who didn't let anyone in, Lenora now has a pack of friends that seem like her family. From being indecisive about what she wanted for her career, she now has two. Nathan, on the other hand, is now a successful reporter in CNN, just like he wanted!

The Way to Never is a book that really surprised me. Normally, I hate books wherein the main character strings a guy along, when she clearly likes another, but for some unknown reason I didn't mind it that much in this book. Probably because Nathan was there first and I was already rooting for them since the first book. Also, the feels when both of them are in the same room didn't hurt either.

My favorite character from this book has to be Nathan's dad. He's a charming old man, and I really hope to see him more in the third book. I'd love to hear his stories regarding Nathan's childhood and other embarrassing tales that he can share.

This ended in a crazy cliffhanger, and I just need to get my hands on the next book or I might go crazy with anticipation. I'm already pulling my hair and screaming after reading that last sentence. I don't know how I'll handle waiting for the next book for so long! 

 Totally Awesome! I loved it, would read again.

The Duke and the Lady of Red is a unique story in more levels than one. I mean, how unique can it be with a con artist for a heroine? Of course, we would know she did it but the revelation was heart breaking.

The Duke and the Lady of Red is the third and final book in the Scandalous Gentlemen of St. James series, and is tied to The Scoundrels of St. James Street (confusing, right?).  As a little background for the story (there is a little bit of tie in on both series), we meet Whit, the current Duke of Avendale, in The Last Wicked Scoundrel, when he was a little boy. His mother, Winnie, the current Duchess of Avendale married one of Feagan's lads and is the hero in The Last Wicked Scoundrel. You do not need to read the previous series or the previous book in this series to appreciate the story but it does help with understanding the whole backstory.

Now enough of that. Let's talk about the hero, Whit. The Duke of Avendale is a scoundrel and loathes permanence in his life, avoids love, and his family. He really is someone with a whole lot of baggage in his life and what I love about this book is that we see his transformation from scoundrel to a hero that we all want to root for.

Rosalind (Rose) Sharp is a con artist. She goes into the Twin Dragons in search for her next mark and is immediately attracted to the Duke of Avendale. Sparks fly between the two, and as Rose starts to fall for Whit, she makes mistakes and is caught by the Duke himself.

As the story unfolds, we discover the real reason behind Rose's con and what drove her to do what she did. We also discover the true reason behind Whit's aloofness from his family.

What I really liked about this story is that it is unique. Both main characters had a lot of baggage behind them. Rose and Whit were also opposites in the way they deal with their family and because of this, it was Rose's devotion to her own that really changed Whit and mended the rift that he had with his own family.

I can't remember how much I cried over a book. The revelations in this story was just heartbreaking and the resolution in the end was immensely satisfying.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romance books and a hero and heroine full of emotional baggage.

Totally Awesome! I loved it, would read again.

A really good mystery is sometimes hard to find especially one with that will leave you trying to solve who the killer is up to the very end.  Mysteries/thrillers are one of my favorite types of books whether in a YA or adult setting. I often find myself figuring out who the killer is midway through the book as some authors make it too easy to use the clues given to know who did what to whom. So I was pleasantly surprised when The Witches Daughter had me guessing until the very last chapter and even then I was shocked to find out the killer really was and why.

The Witch's Daughter is both mystery and paranormal. The story is set in the small town of Maiden Falls, WV legended to be named after an Indian Princess who leaped to her death from the falls. An out of work, recently widowed troubled man named Cavendish Brown is made an offer he can't refuse. Risking jail time Cavendish is offered by a wealthy old woman named Marbella who lives in his hometown to come back and work for the local paper in hopes to help restore it and of course keep him out of trouble. Reluctantly agreeing Cavendish moves back to Maiden Falls only to find the failing town paper is the least of his problems. Something not right is afoot and murder is its name. 

A young and seriously disturbed girl comes into the picture named Jane. Jane has the ability of Psychometry which means she can touch any object and see the past events of the person that last touched the item. With a turn of events, Cavendish meets Jane and discovers her unique ability. With the help of Jane and a mysterious gothic girl with abilities of her own named Alexandra, who happens to be the Marbella's daughter, they start to uncover the ill happening around town. The more of the mystery they uncover the more they find themselves fearing for their lives. Will Cavendish, Jane, and Alex be able to uncover who the killer is in time or will they be the next ones to perish? Read the book and find out!

There are so many amazing things that I loved about this book. There was never a dull moment, I was always left guessing. At some parts of the book, the author would lead me in totally different direction to try and throw me off course which I never saw coming. There was even a part in the book you will read and think nothing of it but later realize that this happens to be a "KEY" part in the story which makes sense after you finish reading. All of the characters were well written and developed as well as they all played a key part in the story to uncover the mystery. The only thing I that keep me from giving the book a solid 5 stars was a few of the chapters read slow. A few times I had a bit of trouble getting back into the storyline but other than that I absolutely love The Witch's Daughter. Author Ron D. Voigts KNOWS how to write a nail-biting, edge of your seat mystery. If you're looking for a fantastic "light on the paranormal" adult thriller then this book is perfect for you! 

 Totally Awesome! I loved it, would read again.

Karen, you could write a novel about the uses of tin foil and I would read it and love it! 0_o 

In all seriousness, I have had the pleasure of reading all of the authors book and ended up just adoring them all! From YA contemporary to Adult Mystery, Karen can do no wrong when it comes to writing a book that everyone will love and enjoy reading for a long time to come. Of course, Whispers of the Dead is no exception. Karen, you've done it again and thoroughly entertained me with another outstanding novel!

Whispers of the Dead is still set in an amish community but this time with a whole different cast of characters. Sheriff Serenity Adams and her partner, Daniel Bachman, take on a new challenge in another amish town called Poplar Springs. There has been a rash of barn burnings, a couple even have claimed the life of the town folk. It's up to Serenity and Daniel to find out who's been setting these fires, and why. They decide to stay with a man named Rowen and his children to have better access to the town. Unlike the town of Blood Rock, the people of Poplar Springs are welcoming, and kind (for the most part). They want answers too. While exploring the town, collecting clues, and speaking with the townspeople, Serenity decovers another barn somehow goes up in flames, and soon after another. Dealing with these new tragedies, she learns about a man named Asher, who happens to be Rowan's brother. Asher is bad news! He deals with drugs, selling, and maybe even murder. But could he be the one behind all of the barn fires, or is something else much more sinister taking place in the small town of Poplar Springs. 

Can Serenity and Daniel find out the truth before it's too late? You'll have to read it for yourself! Trust me, you will be glad you did. Right from the beginning I was guessing who the culprit might end up being and the ending was not at all what I expected. A true mystery/thriller will have your guessing right up to the very end and then shock you with the answer. Whisper of the Dead did just that! I was on the edge of my seat waiting with baited breath to find out who the firestarter was and why. 

I also really enjoyed the characters in the book and how each of them were written into the story. In fact, I actually liked the characters in Whipsher of the Dead more so than in Lamb to the Slaughter. I felt more of a kinship or connection with them. Where in Lamb to The Slaughter I was sometimes annoyed with the amish people because of their lack of helpfulness and honestly. 

Another major aspect I loved about the book was the relationship between Serenity and Daniel. Their chemistry was perfect together and they work beautifully as a team. Now while there wasn't a lot of love-dovey emotions going on, I feel Serenity really became closer to him and finally begin to trust her heart, as well as how her body reacts to Daniel. It's wasn't until the ending, they truly make their feeling known, but it was worth the wait. I'm hoping to see a lot more lovin' going on in the books to come. 

All in all, Whiphers of the Dead was a perfect second book in the series. A fresh new story, a new amish town and of course a new mystery to be solved makes this book another one of my favorites and a must read for those who love a good thriller. If you haven't read anything by Karen Ann Hopkins, then you're sorely missing out. I highly recommend Whispers of the Dead to you, my readers, this book and series is nothing short of spectacular!

Lamb to the Slaughter is a story about the intertwining lives of three unlikely people in an Indiana Amish Community and the devastating results when a rebellious teenage girl is found shot to death in a corn field during the harvest.

Serenity enlists the help of the handsome bad-boy building contractor, Daniel Bachman, who left the Amish when he was nineteen and has his own dark reasons to help the spunky sheriff solve the crime that the family and friends who shunned him are trying desperately to cover up.  Serenity’s persistence leads her to a stunning discovery that not only threatens to destroy her blossoming romance with Daniel, but may even take her life in the end.

Before reading Strigoi: The Blood Bond I honestly had no clue what a "Strigoi" was. I had never really heard the name or looked into the meaning until my Dad decided to write about about one. My initial thought was "Oh great, another Vampire novel", like we don't have enough of those. I myself had tired of reading about Vampires. They are so very much overdone and possess similar stories. Although, I've learned Strigoi is different. They possess all of the traits on a vampire but have the ability to change their form, among other unique differences. With that said, now onto my review. 

The story takes place in the present time. In the beginning we meet a very depressed and desperate man named, Alex Regal. Alex is about to commit suicide by blowing his brains out. He's soon to be divorced after finding his Wife in bed with another man. Alex feels killing himself is the only way out or is it? While the gun is literally in his mouth seconds away from firing there comes a knock at the door. A man named Krebs who is about to change Alex's life forever. He's inherited a large estate from a cousin he never knew he had. The home is in a unknown small town named Glade. Not many have ever heard of the town or ever will. With nothing else to lose Alex decided to give it go and check out the home. Little does he know, he may never be leaving again... 

The town of Glade and the people in it are hiding a big secret. Nothing is as it seems. Upon visiting his late cousin's home and going over paperwork from the lawyer Alex decided to sell the house and be done with it. Upon leaving, his car mysterious breaks down, and now he's forced to stay. Alex comes to learn his cousin was mostly killed, and now something or someone is hunting him. The inhabitants of Glade will not let Alex leave, no matter what he tries all roads lead back to Glade. Alex is not the only outsider in Glade. 

After having a huge fight with her boyfriend Krebs, and knocking him out, Maggie Morton accidentally discovers the town while driving to get away. She ends up hitting a tree and decided to walk to find civilization to call for a tow truck. Maggie ends up meeting Alex who also is new to the town. Soon Maggie is also taken prisoner as Alex is. As they both come learn more about Glade and the people who live here they discover something is definitely not right. Something very evil lives in the town of Glade and Alex and Maggie are about to come face to face with it. After a turn of events, the devilish truth about the town and it's people will soon be revealed. 

And the truth.... will shock you! 

My first thought after I finishing the book was "HOLY CRAP!, What did I just read?" My second thought was, "Wow, my Dad can really write!" Duh! Even though he has published a number of other novels before this one, I'd never read any of them. (sorry Dad) I don't know how but Ron has renewed my interest in Vampire books again. I was so blown away but how unique and fascinating this story truly was. It has it all; breakneck pacing, mystery, and paranormal horror unlike anything I've ever read. 

I ended up staying up until 2 AM finishing the book and even then I couldn't fall asleep right away. I was still reeling from what I had just read. The story, the characters, and thrilling mystery of the town were written perfectly crafted. There was never a dull moment. I loved how Ron took the classic tale of Vampires and made it his own. 

I have in fact been told there will be sequel to the book. So, YAY! 

I highly recommend Strigoi: The Blood Bond to everyone. Honestly, I am so very proud of my Dad for writing such an amazing novel.

Once again Author Karen Ann Hopkins has written a phenomenal new book that I just couldn't put down. This Amish murder mystery is not only unique but totally thrilling in every sense of the word.  Page after page I was always trying guess who the killer was. Most times I was wrong, so much so when I found out who really did it I was totally shocked. Lamb To The Slaughter will having YOU guessing until the very end. 

The story is told in multiple POV's, Serenity (the sheriff), Daniel (love interest to Serenity and former Amish), and the victim, Naomi (Amish teen). Naomi's chapters are being told in past tense, which really helps the reader learn about her and her life. While Serenity and Daniel's chapters are set in the present time. Newly appointed sheriff Serenity Adams of Blood Rock, Indiana takes the case of a local Amish girl who was killed in what looks to be hunting accident. Naomi was found dead in a cornfield close to where she lives. After a line of questioning to Naomi's family and the Amish community, Serenity gets the feeling they are hiding something. She decides to enlist a local man named Daniel Bachman for help since he himself used to be Amish and also once lived in the same community. Daniel knows first hand how much the Amish are set in their way and will only open up to their own. After a series of events Serenity and Daniel find themselves getting closer and closer to the truth. Secrets, lies, and deception all thrown into the mix of who REALLY killed poor Naomi and why. They need to find out the truth before they end up dead as well... 

As you read Naomi's POV you find out a more in depth look into her life. Naomi meets and falls in love with an Amish boy named Eli which she plans to wed some day soon. Lamb To The Slaughter was a excellent read for anyone who loves a good mystery or thriller. It definitely will leave you guessing and maybe even skipping ahead to sneak a peak. ;) There is nothing Author Karen Ann Hopkins could write that I wouldn't love. Her books have not only given me such a better understanding of the Amish but a longing to find more Amish based novel to read. 

Lamb To The Slaughter is a stunningly suspenseful read that will have you flipping pages long past your bedtime. You won't want to miss it!
