Stacking The Shelves #38 - It's been a year

Stacking The Shelves ( hosted by Tynga's Reviews ) is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

It's been almost a year since I've done a Stacking The Shelves post. It just always seemed like to much work but now I kind of miss doing it so today I'm going to start up again. Here are the books I received in the past week.

These three books I received for review.
Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven
The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Click Here to Start by Denis Markell

I'm currently reading...
Walk The Edge by Katie McGarry via the library.

That's all for this week from me.
Are there any books above you're looking forward to?
Let me know in the comments below.

Have a fabulous Saturday everyone!
Hope everyone has a nice 4th of July.

Waiting on Wednesday #42: The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Well, it's been a while since I did a WOW post. Sorry about that. I always forgot to do meme's. Oy vey!

This week, I'm waiting on...

The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent
Hardcover & ebook, 352 pages
Expected publication: August 16th 2016 by Delacorte Press / MIRA Ink
Genre: YA - Paranormal Romance

ONE SPARK WILL RISE. Nina Kane was born to be an exorcist. And since uncovering the horrifying truth—that the war against demons is far from over—seventeen-year-old Nina and her pregnant younger sister, Mellie, have been on the run, incinerating the remains of the demon horde as they go.

In the badlands, Nina, Mellie, and Finn, the fugitive and rogue exorcist who saved her life, find allies in a group of freedom fighters. They also face a new threat: Pandemonia, a city full of demons. But this fresh new hell is the least of Nina’s worries. The well of souls ran dry more than a century ago, drained by the demons secretly living among humans, and without a donor soul, Mellie’s child will die within hours of its birth.

Nina isn’t about to let that happen . . . even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

SO FREAKING EXECTED!!! I am a HUGE Rachel Vincent fan. She's one of my auto-buy authors and for good reason. The first book in this series was the one of my favorite books of 2015 and iI can't wait to read what happens next. Plus reading about *sigh* Finn *swoon* is always a great thing!

So what book(s) are YOU waiting on this Wednesday?

Karen Ann Hopkins resides in northern Kentucky with her family on a farm that boasts a menagerie of horses, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats. Karen's main job is home schooling the kids, but she finds time to give riding lessons, coach a youth equestrian drill team, and of course, write. She was inspired to create her first book, Temptation, by the Amish community she lived in. The experiential knowledge she gained through her interactions with her neighbors drove her to create the story of the star-crossed lovers, Rose and Noah.

Karen grew up about a mile from Lake Ontario in Upstate New York. She was bitten by the horse bug at the age of five, and after diligently taking riding lessons for several years, was rewarded with her first horse at the age of eleven. The feisty horse's name was Lady, a Quarter Horse-Thoroughbred cross, who became Karen's steadfast companion. Through the years, the constant force in her life was horses. Eventually, she found her place as a riding instructor herself. Before accepting her fate in the barnyard, she worked a short stint as a paralegal, traveled abroad, and guided tourists on horseback riding tours in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

Karen is currently working on her Amish mystery series, Serenity's Plain Secrets, along with the YA paranormal/fantasy series, The Wings of War.  Karen is also excited to announce the Temptation series has been optioned for TV by Pilgrim Studios and is available on Audible.

Waiting on Wednesday #39: Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

 This week, I'm waiting on...

Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas

Paperback,  384 pages

Expected publication:  October 27th 2015 by Avon

Genre: Adult - Historical Romance

A twist of fate...Devon Ravenel, London's most wickedly charming rake, has just inherited an earldom. But his powerful new rank in society comes with unwanted responsibilities . . . and more than a few surprises. His estate is saddled with debt, and the late earl's three innocent sisters are still occupying the house . . . along with Kathleen, Lady Trenear, a beautiful young widow whose sharp wit and determination are a match for Devon's own.A clash of wills...Kathleen knows better than to trust a ruthless scoundrel like Devon. But the fiery attraction between them is impossible to deny—and from the first moment Devon holds her in his arms, he vows to do whatever it takes to possess her. As Kathleen finds herself yielding to his skillfully erotic seduction, only one question remains:Can she keep from surrendering her heart to the most dangerous man she's ever known?

Why I'm Waiting:  It seems like I have been waiting for ages for Lisa Kleypas to write a historical romance novel!  The last few years, she has solely been writing contemporary romance which really is not my cup of tea so I just had to boycott her books for awhile.  I have read all Lisa's historical romance novels and I must say that I am really excited to read Cold-Hearted Rake.  I mean, a rake is involved and with all historicals, we all know rakes mean trouble - and romance!  Oh, and did I mention that I love that gorgeous cover?  Where can I get that gown?! ~ Zeee

Waiting on Wednesday #37: The One Thing & Hotel Ruby

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

 This week, I'm waiting on...

The One Thing by Marci Lyn Curtis
Hardcover,  336 pages
Expected publication: September 8th 2015 by Disney-Hyperion
Genre: YA - Contemporary Romance

Maggie Sanders might be blind, but she won't invite anyone to her pity party. Ever since losing her sight six months ago, Maggie's rebellious streak has taken on a life of its own, culminating with an elaborate school prank. Maggie called it genius. The judge called it illegal.

Now Maggie has a probation officer. But she isn't interested in rehabilitation, not when she's still mourning the loss of her professional-soccer dreams, and furious at her so-called friends, who lost interest in her as soon as she could no longer lead the team to victory.

Then Maggie's whole world is turned upside down. Somehow, incredibly, she can see again. But only one person: Ben, a precocious ten-year-old unlike anyone she's ever met. Ben's life isn't easy, but he doesn't see limits, only possibilities. After awhile, Maggie starts to realize that losing her sight doesn't have to mean losing everything she dreamed of. Even if what she's currently dreaming of is Mason Milton, the infuriatingly attractive lead singer of Maggie's new favorite band, who just happens to be Ben's brother.

But when she learns the real reason she can see Ben, Maggie must find the courage to face a once-unimaginable future...before she loses everything she has grown to love.

Why I'm waiting:  I haven't read a published book with a blind character yet, but once upon a time I fell in love with a story with a blind main character over at Wattpads. This one seems very different from it, but I'm intrigued by the blind main character, her ability to see only one person, and the romance that will ensue.

  Beckie is waiting on...

Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young
Hardcover,  288 pages
Expected publication: November 3rd 2015 by Simon Pulse
Genre: YA - Fantasy, Mystery

Stay Tonight. Stay Forever.
When Audrey Casella arrives for an unplanned stay at the grand Hotel Ruby, she’s grateful for the detour. Just months after their mother’s death, Audrey and her brother, Daniel, are on their way to live with their grandmother, dumped on the doorstep of a DNA-matched stranger because their father is drowning in his grief.

Audrey and her family only plan to stay the night, but life in the Ruby can be intoxicating, extending their stay as it provides endless distractions—including handsome guest Elias Lange, who sends Audrey’s pulse racing. However, the hotel proves to be as strange as it is beautiful. Nightly fancy affairs in the ballroom are invitation only, and Audrey seems to be the one guest who doesn't have an invite. Instead, she joins the hotel staff on the rooftop, catching whispers about the hotel’s dark past.

The more Audrey learns about the new people she's met, the more her curiosity grows. She’s torn in different directions—the pull of her past with its overwhelming loss, the promise of a future that holds little joy, and an in-between life in a place that is so much more than it seems…

Welcome to the Ruby.

Why Beckie is waiting: Just recently I discovered Hotel Ruby on Goodreads while browsing upcoming new releases for the fall/winter. It was the cover that drew me in and after reading the blurb for the book I knew I had to add it to my TBR pile. Hotel Ruby sounds like a fun thriller that will have me on the end of my seat wondering what happens next. There just isn't enough GREAT mystery/thriller novels in YA so I am excited to see if this book fits the bill. Plus, I love author Suzanne Young's books!

Waiting on Wednesday #36: A Mad Zombie Party & Before We Were Strangers

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Today my new co-blogger, Kim will be joining me for this weeks WOW post. :)

This week, I'm waiting on...

A Mad Zombie Party (White Rabbit Chronicles #4) by Gena Showalter
Hardcover, 448 pages
Expected publication: September 29th 2015 by Harlequin Teen
Genre: YA - PNR, Horror, Zombies

The battle rages on.

Ali Bell and Cole Holland's crew of zombie slayers thought they'd won the war against Anima Industries, the evil company responsible for capturing and experimenting on zombies in an effort to discover the secret to immortality. In the last epic clash, the slayers lost many of their crew and closest friends. But Frosty, the ice man himself, has not recovered from one casualty in particular—the love of his life, Kat Parker.

On the path to self-annihilation, Frosty receives a message from beyond—Kat's spirit returns, insisting he partner with rogue slayer Camilla Marks. Frosty will do anything for Kat. Except that. Camilla is the one who betrayed them all, leading to Kat's death.

But when Anima rises from the grave to become a force the slayers may not have the strength to overcome, Frosty, Camilla and all the slayers will have to work together to survive. And one broken slayer will learn that sometimes, the line between hate and attraction is blurred…and the road to redemption isn't through revenge, but in letting go of the past and grabbing hold of the future.

Okay. Raise you hand if you thought there would be a fourth book in this series? Nobody? Yeah, me too! The third book was wrapped up so perfectly ending the series. Spoiler in white: with the exception of Frosty grieving for Kat. When I saw there was going to be another book I was kind of in shock. I mean I love this series so much, but I'm kind of worry about where this book is going and why it was needed. I'm hoping it will be great as were all the others. Oh, and as far as the cover goes... I kind of don't like it. She looks bored, and I wish she ended up wearing the top hat like in the photo shoot but oh well.

Kim is waiting on....

Before We Were Strangers
Renee Carlino
Paperback, 320 pages
Expected publication: August 18th 2015 by Atria Books
Genre: NA - Contemporary Romance

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing and Nowhere But Here comes a love story about a Craigslist “missed connection” post that gives two people a second chance at love fifteen years after they were separated in New York City.

To the Green-eyed Lovebird:

We met fifteen years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House.

You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more.

We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other.

Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic. When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too hard after the wedding…

I didn’t see you again until a month ago. It was a Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didn’t know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I could say hello.

After seeing you, all of the youthful feelings and memories came flooding back to me, and now I’ve spent the better part of a month wondering what your life is like. I might be totally out of my mind, but would you like to get a drink with me and catch up on the last decade and a half?

Kim's Says: There's just something about the cover and the synopsis of this book that pulls me in. I love that the synopsis is in letter form, and I just can't wait to find out the story behind it!
