Book Info:

The Kingdom of Frewyn is being invaded by the Galleisian infantry and at the forefront of the battle is Boudicca MacDaede, a First Captain in the Frewyn armed forces. Her regiment is charged with defending the borders between the two nations, but when Frewyn’s last line of defense falls, Captain MacDaede enlists the assistance of a Haanta, one of giants from the islands to the far north. Promising to free him from his imprisonment in exchange for his help, she gains his trust long enough for them to win the battle and save the Frewyn border from being breached. The giant’s freedom is granted, but Rautu cannot return home unless he redeems himself in the eyes of his people for his past transgressions. He is offered a place by the captain’s side, and together, they defeat the Galleisian forces and become the saviors of Frewyn.

One year later, King Alasdair Brennin takes the Frewyn throne, Boudicca is made commander, Gallei and Frewyn reach an accord, and Rautu is granted an invitation home. He is eager to return and see his brothers but finds it difficult to leave Frewyn without Boudicca at his side. He has become accustomed to her company and the idea of being made to live without her begins to distress him. Rautu invites the commander to the islands in hopes of finding a way for them to remain together, but when they arrive at the white shores of Sanhedhran, not everything goes as planned: one of the dangerous Haanta magi is freed, Rautu’s three brothers are strangely missing, and the neighboring nation of Thellis leads an attack on the islands.

Together, the commander and the Den Asaan Rautu must find a way to unite their two nations and defend against the Thellisian fleets, but can they do so successfully when outside forces are attempting to keep them apart?

Author Guest Post:
The commander, still breathless from the giant’s hands being upon

her, was now desperate to leave the kitchen. She implored Rithea
and Ghelbhi to look after their dessert, and when she received their
assurances, she hastened up the stairwell in hopes of receiving her own
delights. She came to the two doors of the adjoining rooms, inspecting
both of them and deciding which one to enter—hers or his. Her
conscience told her to enter his quarters and continue where they had
left their pursuits, but her instincts conveyed that the Den Asaan was
lurking about somewhere in her own chamber. She raised her hand
to open her door when no sooner had she turned the handle had she
found herself on her back. She looked up from her place on the ground
and saw little more than the ceiling at first, but the heavy weight on her
legs suggested a certain giant was sitting upon her. She peered over the
mounds of her breast and saw a stern expression looking back at her.

He had anticipated her arrival, and to be certain of her entrapment
regardless of which room she had chosen to enter, the Den Asaan
employed his various ambush techniques to wedge himself between
the rafters opposing the entrances of the quarters. He needed only to
wait until she opened a door to push her through it. Leaping on her
from behind and turning her onto her back while falling took some
finesse, but his gifts of infiltration had done well for him here. He sat
on his knees with his legs on either side of her and pressed the chief
of his weight down upon her hips to pin her to the ground. He leaned
over her, assessing her with the same rapacious eyes he had done in the
kitchen and growled in a low, ambitious hum. “You have provoked me
for too long, woman,” he warned her, pressing the bridge of his nose
eagerly against hers.

The commander smiled at his sincerity and enjoyed watching him
remark all the details of her face. “I have done nothing but politely
tease,” she professed, pressing a hand against her breast.

His voracious attention remained through her speech. He tapered
his gaze and scoured her form, taking in the scent of her skin with
profound inhalations.

“So,” she smirked, “you’ve hunted and trapped me. Does this
mean you’re laying your claim to me?”

“I am, woman,” he declared, eyeing the curve of her wide hips.

“Is this the usual manner in which your men ask for a mate?”

The giant leaned forward, pressing his massive chest firmly against
her frame. “I will not ask,” he purred in her ear.

“Oh, no? Shame. I had a rejection all planned out for you.”

Regardless of her mockery, she could not move now, and Rautu
would do everything necessary to secure his prize while he had her
within reach. He impressed his stern features upon hers, took hold
of her arms and pinned them to the ground with his might to make
certain they would not wander toward pleasurable places during
his profession.
