I was contacted by Kimberly Montague the author of Altered back in the beginning of June and she asked me to read and review her book for my honest opinion. Altered is a Young Adult novel that is a great read for any age.  After reading a short summary of Altered that was sent to me by Kimberly, I knew I would really enjoy having the chance to read her book. Kimberly live close to me in North Carolina, which is really neat.  So here is my review of her book. Thank you so much, Kimberly for your book and a chance to review it for you.

Goodreads Info:

Deep in the Sierra Nevada mountains there lies a cave that has been the source of local legends for centuries. Purported to be the home of an ancient deranged and vicious animal, many have gone in seek of it, but what lies within is far more dangerous than a mere creature.

17 year-old Piper “Evie” Kenley’s life has been anything but calm, however, the turmoil of losing almost her entire family is nothing compared to the difficulties she is about to face.

Robbed of all other alternatives, she moves in with her boyfriend of seven years and his family only to find that she has an intensely electric connection with the handsome and popular Devlin Vaughn- Captain of the football team. Try as she might, she cannot avoid this connection they share leaving her with a choice to make. But just as she begins to feel her life is in order, one camping trip and a testosterone-driven dare involving a cave with a deadly and contagious secret will send her entire world into complete chaos.

My Thoughts: (I gave the book 3.5 Stars)

I am very impressed by Kimberly Montague's first book in the Setenid Blight series, Altered.  The plot of the book is a very fun read full of Romance, suspense, and  difficult choices. A classic love story with a twist. Altered starts out with the reader's learning about a few of the main characters, Evie, her brother Harm and Evie's boyfriend of seven years, Jay. Evie and her brother Harm recently lost there Mother and Father and are dealing with being alone and having to take care of each other. When Harm decides he wants to join the special forces, he leaves Evie in Jay hands where they end up going back to a town they once lived in before. Evie is to live with her boyfriend's family for the time being and start school once she is settled in. On the first day back to school with Jay by her side she ends up meeting a guy that she feels a intensely electric connection with, Delvin. He is handsome, popular and Evie feels drawn to Devlin even before she meets him. With more and more encounters with Devlin, Evie is starting to fall in love with him even know she knows in her heart she is with Jay... Evie finds herself falling more and more for Devlin and less attracted to Jay.  When her decisions lead to more that what she bargained for, Evie and Devlin now have there love put to the test. Something weird is going around and people including Jay are not acting like themselves, but rather something very evil. Evie and Devlin along with there friends now will fight there way to find safety and stay together in a town that has gone mad, but why?

I loved the style of writing that Kimberly Montague uses.  It was a beautifully written book with wonderful descriptions of the people and events that take place during the book. I really enjoyed the heartfelt romance in Altered. A True love story with a twist in the end. I kept wanting for everything to be okay in the end but was left with a cliff hanger. Altered will never leave the reader disappointed  It is fast and fun read with plenty of mystery and romance. The only reason I ended up giving it 3.5 stars and not more is because I felt during the middle of the book was all about the romance between Evie and Devlin and I wanted more of the mystery of what was going on in the town. In the beginning of Alter you learn about these weird things happening but the book does not go into it until much later. Other than this I really enjoyed reading Altered and would recommend the book to anyone over the age of 15.

Guest Author Post w/ T. P. Boje & Giveaway!

Inspiration can come from places you would never expect. Like something you read in a newspaper, or hear people talk about at work or from something you remember from your childhood. The story in my latest book “The Eye of the Crystal Ball” is very new, but the main character - the gypsy-girl Sara – has been with me always. She appeared in my head when I was still a child. Where did she come from? Well, my parents actually. It is kind of strange I admit, but I think it is part of the reason why I have such a great imagination still as an adult. The thing is, my parents (mostly my dad – but my mom didn’t contradict him) used to tell me that I wasn’t their child. According to their story I was left on the doorstep at their house as an infant. They found me there in a small basket with a note on the pillow telling them to take good care of me. They told me I was a gypsy girl and that my real parents were going to come and get me one day soon. I know it sounds like a horrible thing for parents to say to their child, but it wasn’t like I was young enough to really believe them. But I loved the story, and it made me very interested in gypsies and whenever we went on vacation to the Southern of France – where we always went because we had an apartment there – I would always go out looking for gypsies and try to get in contact with them. I didn’t believe the story – but I think maybe a big part of me wanted to. And that is where I think my love for storytelling began. My dad would tell me vividly about the gypsy way of living (in order to prepare me for when I had to go back, he would say while winking his one eye) and I would get drawn right into these stories of the dark and mysterious people from distant and exotic places. Stories filled with music and dancing and fluttering skirts. And my new best friend became Sara, the gypsy girl in a long red dress that would dance in my mind and make me dream of being different, or at least something else than the pretty ordinary girl from a middleclass family in Denmark that I really was. As I grew up she followed me. I knew in my heart that I would one day write her story, and after having written four mystery novels, three in Danish that are published in Scandinavia and Germany, and one in English, I finally realized some time this spring that Sara had returned and she was getting ready to go on a dangerous quest to find a cure for her little brother’s strange illness.

I told my parents that I had written the story and they laughed a lot about it. So did I. To their defense I can tell you, that they told my older brother that he came from the monkey-cage at the local Zoo, so I would prefer my story anytime over his. But to be honest I loved that they gave me a world of imagination and they made me believe that I could do anything. Even fly. Yes, you heard me. Fly. My dad told me that he could teach me how to fly and every weekend for a long period of time we would practice in the driveway. My dad would put me on our garbage can outside and then he would have me jump towards him while he yelled: Flap your arms, flap! And I jumped, of course, and flapped firmly believing that I one day would fly over the top of the roofs and look down at the small world underneath me. Some small part of me still believes that one day it will happen. As long as I keep flapping … and believing.

When Sara was newborn her parents left her at the doorstep at Mr. and Mrs. Schneider’s house.

When Sara was ten she discovered she was telekinetic. She began to move stuff around when she got angry just by her will alone.

When Sara was twelve her real parents came for her and took her with them to live like the Gypsy that she was – or Romani as they like to call themselves. They told her she was going to fulfill a prophesy. That it was once said that out of the Romani people the greatest sorceress who had ever lived would be born. When Sara was thirteen she had a baby brother and when she was fourteen he got very sick with a strange illness. To save her baby-brother Sara sets off on a quest to find his cure – well knowing that it will cost her dearly. Soon Sara finds herself going through the Singing Cave, crossing Wild Witches Valley, talking to a ten foot giant snail, rescuing the Beads of Souls from the Hell-hounds, escaping a spell in Vamila, the Forest of Vanity, visiting the king at the City of Lights before she finally reaches the Black Castle where she is told the Eye of the Crystal Ball can tell her how to cure her brother’s strange illness.

But nothing is free in this world - and as Sara soon will know - everything has a price.

Follow Friday: #3

Yes, another Follow friday comes at ya! Wow this last week has been very hectic and tiresome with me moving to my new home but I am almost all settled in. Now I can try to focus on reading more and my blog. Just wanted to say hi to everyone who stops by here for the first time. I hope you decide to follow me. :)

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

My Answer: I would have to say either fairies or vampires. I have always love the idea of fairies being real. When I was a kid I used to play make-believe with my sister and we would say we has friends who where fae. I think it would be so cool to have fairies as friends who only you could see and hear. As for Vampires I would definitely love to know that they are real.  For all the obvious reasons. hehe :P

I was contacted by Allegra Skye the author of Saved back in the middle of July and she asked me to read and review her book for my honest opinion. Saved is a Young Adult novel that is a great read for any age.  After reading the short summary of Saved that was sent to me by Allegra, I knew I would really enjoy having the chance to read her book.  So here is my review of her book. Thank you so much, Allegra for your book and a chance to review it for you.

Goodreads Info:

In SAVED (Book #1 of the Shadow Vampires), Keira and Amanda, twins, move with their family to a new town, and start their senior year at a new high school. But though they are twins, the girls have different fates. Amanda, beautiful, popular, is sought out by everyone. Keira, who has always lived in Amanda's shadow, is smaller, awkward, different. Even her mother, who is so close to Amanda, doesn't know what to make of her other daughter. Keira turns to books, and to her journal, for solace, and to find out about other worlds.

Amanda makes friends easily at the new school, and quickly finds a boyfriend, while Keira is left alone, an outsider. But very quickly, it is clear that something strange is going on in Everstock. The town and the school are very divided. The popular, rich kids act as if they own the school and have nothing to do with the other kids, who are poorer and live in a different part of town. Not only are the kids meaner here, but an unknown infection has gripped the town, with more and more people going to the hospital. Something here is terribly wrong.

But things change suddenly, as there is a terrible accident involving the twins. Not only are Keira and Amanda's lives changed forever, but a new dimension of life begins to open to Keira.

As Keira recovers, she begins to change in ways she can't expect, receiving new and mysterious powers that no one can possibly understand. At the same time, a gorgeous, mysterious new boy, Cooper, appears at the school, who grips her imagination, and who refuses to tell her what secret he is hiding.

As Keira and Cooper grow closer to each other, it soon becomes apparent that destiny has brought them together-and that they may each have to sacrifice it all if they want to stay together...

My Thoughts: (I gave the book 4 Stars)

First let me say that Saved was a joy to read. Going into this book I did not think I would like it as much as I ended up.  Saved was sure full of surprises. The story-line was not based solely on Vampires, you don't even get into knowing about the Shadow Vampires until more towards the end of the book. The story starts out with the main character  Keira and her family moving to a new town. Keira has a twin sister but Keira has always felt that she was never noticed by her family like her twin, Amanda.  Keira's Mom and Dad always pay more attention to Amanda and make Keira feel like she is a outcast. While reading about how Keira felt she was being treated I could not help me tear up a little. If you have brothers and sister you may feel like Keira did. Amanda was always popular in school and at home while Kiara was not but it never seemed to bother her much until once day she offered to drive Amanda to a party but on the way there was a tragic accident on the way. Amanda was badly hurt and now in a coma. While Keira walked away from the accident with only minor injuries. Well of course there parents blamed her, even more her Mother comes to hate Keira.  In my mind I SO wanted to slap there Mother and want to understand how parents can treat each child with Love or in Kaira case Hate, and anger.
While Kaira is dealing with her parents and feeling hopeless from what happened to her twin sister. She starts to find the oddest things starting to happen to her ... A Mysterious purple light, and having the new found ability to read peoples thoughts...  So as Keira begins to question why these things are happening to her she meets Copper.  As Keira begins to get to know him she finds Copper acting very hot and cold towards her. One minute he talks to her and is nice, the next Copper will push her away.  I keep finding myself feeling so sorry for Keira was having to deal with and live with all of these problems. It was not until I found who or what Copper is and the story of his past that this book really become a shocking and exciting page turner. You will not want to wait to see what is in store for Cooper, Kaira and her family. I really enjoyed this book and I am glad I was able to have the chance to read it. Saved was a quick read and fun to read Allegra story. I would recommend Saved for YA-Adults.

Follow Friday: #2

Follow Friday hosted by parajunkee.com & alisoncanread.com

Yay, my second week doing Follow Friday. :) Hope to find some new followers.

And this week's question for Follow Friday is:
If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

Hmm.. thats a hard question becuase I have read so many amazing books this year but I would have to say "The Iron Fey" series written by Julia Kagawa. I have read all of there books and they are by far my fave series I have read in a long time. I would so love to be Meghan (of course) . I dream of being in there world and meeting Ash, and Puck. I have always loved the story of A Midsummer Nights dream and these books made the story come alive even more.  So yes to be a half-fey and be in love with Prince Ash sounds like a world (book) I would like to be a part in.

Thank you so much, Michelle for the book and a chance to review it for you.

Goodreads Info:

New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

My Thoughts: (I gave the book 4 Stars)

I feel completely in love with this book from the start. I am such a suckers for a sappy love story and Remembrance is just that with a twist. The book starts out where a new boy, Drew joins the school where Lizzie the female lead character attends. Drew Carmichael just transfers from a school in NY and meets Lizzie on his first day. Lizzie feels strangely drawn to Drew like she knows him from some where even know she has never meet him before. After that day weird things start happening to Lizzie. She has a project for class to draw a scene from Pride and Prejudice - But once Lizzie looks up from what she was drawing she was amazed of what she saw...(I won't spoil it).  She starts to feel not connected to her long time boyfriend anymore and every time she is near Drew she feel so oddly more connected to him but does not understand why she keeps feeling this way even thought Drew is pushing Lizzie away. One of the main reason why is because he is dating Lizzie BFF, Chelsea. More and more Drew keeps away for Lizzie and she does not understand what is going on.... she feel like there is more than he is telling her. Besides all of this going on, now she is having flashes of memory from a past or of her past? Lizzie cannot be sure of anything anymore, why she is remembering things in the past that are not her memories and why she feels so drawn to Drew, but mostly why he acts so cold towards her. Well the answers lie within this amazing novel written by Michelle Madow. I adored this book and I think it would be a fast, fun and exciting read for any age group. There were parts where I just wanted to smack drew or cry for Lizzie. I loved being able to feel so many different emotions during the process of reading Remembrance. I just love stories of past lives they are so unique and refreshing to me to read.  I really enjoyed reading it and I think my readers will to. I would love to applaud Michelle for such a brilliant novel and I am glad I had the opportunity to read and review your book for you!

Okay, so if you have read the "Iron Fey" series you know who this weeks Book Boyfriend is. Yes, the lovable, funny, and sweet - Robin Goodfellow. Better know as PUCK! Puck is one of my very favorite characters from the books and why would I like him to be my book boyfriend....? Well the answer is simple. PUCK rox! He is funny -always tries to lighten the mood in the scenes from the books. He has such a sweet and caring Nature and you feel like Puck would either be a great friend to have or a love interest. Well and judging from the way that Julia Kagawa describes his looks, he would be so sexy. I love the red hair on guys, so more if it is spiked. Puck was always there for Meghan in the books but I felt ever so sad for him when I found out how much he loves Meghan more than a friend. I wonder will Puck ever find love? Well if he was my boyfriend the answer would be easy.... YES! Don't get me wrong I LOVE Prince Ash (as some of you know from me 2nd book boyfriend --> Info here - But it would be hard not to fall for such a sweet, caring and funny guy. I am a sucker for a guy who can make me laugh... aren't you? So all and all Robin Goodfellow is this weeks BB and what's not to love?

I picture Puck looking like this:

Here are some Puck quotes from the Iron Fey books:

"Oh, we're playing nice now? Shall we have tea first? Brew up a nice pot of kiss-my-ass?
-Puck"
( The Iron King )

"Me? Die? Didn't they tell you, princess? I'm Robin Goodfellow."
( The Iron King )

"Ladies and Felines," he stated grandly, grasping the doorknob, "Welcome to Tir Na Nog. Land of endless winter and shitloads of snow."
 (  The Iron King )

"Oh, look at that, he's heard of me. My fame grows." -Puck"
( The Iron Queen)

"It's not everyday I get to tell someone I was attacked by a pair of flying reading glasses. Ow"  - Puck
( The Iron Queen )

"I have always loved you, princess" Robin Goodfellow promised, his green eyes shining in the darkness. "I always will. And I'll take whatever you can give me." - Puck
( The Iron Queen )

The "The Iron Fey series is written by Julia Kagawa.
You can check out there books here and here.
