Cover Reveal: Rose Petal Graves by Olivia Wildenstein

Welcome to the cover reveal for
Rose Petal Graves by Olivia Wildenstein
The book is now an extended edition! Check out the new cover and blurb below.

Rose Petal Graves
by Olivia Wildenstein
Genre: Paranormal/Faeries
Release Date: March 29th 2017

ANCIENT SECRETS CANNOT REMAIN BURIED FOREVER.

Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly.

Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.

As we made preparations for Mom’s burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people. I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies—my ancestors—were beginning to awaken.

Olivia Wildenstein grew up in New York City, the daughter of a French father with a great sense of humor, and a Swedish mother whom she speaks to at least three times a day. She chose Brown University to complete her undergraduate studies and earned a bachelor’s in comparative literature. After designing jewelry for a few years, Wildenstein traded in her tools for a laptop computer and a very comfortable chair. This line of work made more sense, considering her college degree.

When she’s not writing, she’s psychoanalyzing everyone she meets (Yes. Everyone), eavesdropping on conversations to gather material for her next book, baking up a storm (that she actually eats), going to the gym (because she eats), and attempting not to be late at her children’s school (like she is 4 out of 5 mornings, on good weeks).

Wildenstein lives with her husband and three children in Geneva, Switzerland, where she’s an active member of the writing community.

What do you all think of the new cover?

Thank you Ryan Graudin for agreeing to be interviewed on my blog! :)

  1. Sad ending or happy ending?

I’m a sucker for happy endings, but I do think it’s important that they be believable. And/or realistic. Different stories also demand different endings. I’m a big proponent of hope, and try to infuse it in any ending I write, whether happy or sad.

  1. Laptop or Desktop?

I prefer laptops because I like switching up my surroundings on occasion. I find my creativity can be sparked by just getting out of the house. Or even escaping my office. Working from home means I get cabin fever. Laptops make it possible to treat this very serious ailment. And get out in the sunlight. And see people.

  1. Long chapters or Short chapters?

Mine usually end up being medium length. Around 8 or 9 pages. Though I do sometimes enjoy throwing a few punchy, short chapters in there. For dramatic effect and all.

  1. Urban Fantasy or Dystopian?

One of the very first manuscripts I worked on (which is now mercifully shelved) was an Urban Fantasy. I had a soft spot for them. Though, as a reader, I usually don’t care what genre it is if the story is crafted well enough.

  1. Movies or TV?

Over the years I’ve become much more of a TV watcher instead of movies. Doctor Who, LOST, Firefly and BBC Sherlock are among my all time favorites. Any Marvel movie that hits the theatres is an automatic must see for me, and I’m very excited for all of the superhero television shows that are emerging!

  1. Coffee or Hot Cocoa?

Give me that caffeine. I drink lots of coffee. Two or three cups black in the mornings. When I want to lay off the caffeine but still want a hot drink I resort to herbal tea. Hot Cocoa is more of a rare treat.

  1. Facebook or Twitter?

I’m more partial to Twitter nowadays, but the two social media sites play two different roles for me. I’ve had a Facebook since college, and use it on a much more personal note. Twitter is where I engage with readers and other writers. I love the bookish community!!!

  1. Bookish Superpower: Speed Reading or Speed Writing?

I would love to speed write. There’s so many stories I want to tell! I’m told I’m a relatively fast writer, but I don’t feel that way when I’m only churning out 1000 words a day.

  1. Pink or Blue?

In most cases blue. Though I’m always in awe of Laini Taylor’s hot pink hair. (I’ve tried purple myself! I don’t know if I have the cajones to pull off the pink!)

  1. Print books or ebooks?

Print books. Always and forever.

Zoey Daniels has been tossed from foster home to foster home, where she grows up fast and tough. When she is placed in her “last-chance” home, she finds a reason to stay and turn her life around: her foster sister, Lexie, who is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Zoey will do anything to keep her safe.

After high school, Zoey is hired by a special government agency, the Department of Molecular Genetics (DMG), where she meets the other reason to remain: Daniel, her co-worker. The man she loves.

But there is something unique about Zoey. She can see fae. Because of this, the DMG hires her to work as a Collector: catching, researching, testing, and using the fae to save human lives. The work never registers on her sympathy radar. She was raised to think of fae as beasts that feed on humans and want to destroy them.

When devastation hits Seattle, Zoey's whole world is turned upside down. The electric storm connects her to a ruthless fae, a Wanderer named Ryker, whose dealings expose them to even more trouble and danger. They embark on a journey, running and hiding from both the government and fae, both of which threaten their lives and those they love.

~Becoming a winter queen will make Ilyenna as cold and cruel and deadly as winter itself, but it might be the only way to save her people from a war they have no hope of winning.~

Mortally wounded during a raid, seventeen-year-old Ilyenna is healed by winter fairies who present her with a seductive offer: become one of them and share their power over winter. But that power comes with a price. If she accepts, she will become a force of nature, lose her humanity, and abandon her family.

Unwilling to pay such a high price, Ilyenna is enslaved by the one of the invaders, Darrien. While in captivity, she learns the attack wasn’t just a simple raid but part of a larger plot to overthrow her entire nation.

With the enemy stealing over the mountains and Darrien coming to take her to his bed, Ilyenna must decide whether to resurrect the power the fairies left behind. Doing so will allow her to defeat Darrien and the other invaders, but if she embraces winter, she will lose herself to that destroying power—forever.
