Author Interview - Kate O'Hegarty.

Hello friends. I recently have been given the great opportunity to be involved in "The Mieradome Blog Tour".  This is hosted by a wonderful new author,  Kate O'Hegarty. I was contacted by her to help promote her new book,  Mieradome. Here is some info about her book for those would would like to read it.

MIERADOME is like a twisted Alice in Wonderland with a zing of dragons, leprechauns, Faeries, & doppelgängers!
Mieradome has been featured in  Girl's Life Magazine (June/July 2010 issue), Fantasy E-Zine, FaerieWorlds.com and FaerieWorlds 2010 summer event program.  Kate has an official website for her novel Mieradome, complete with character illustrations, reading group guide, book trailer, etc. The book is currently available through AuthorHouse and Amazon.comBarnes & NobleBorders, and Indiebound(among many others.)

I also was happy to say Kate asked to do a interview with me about her, her book, and her life. I hope everyone enjoys. Thank you Kate O'Hegarty for sharing with us.

1. Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
Here’s how I came up with my teen fantasy novel Mieradome.

2. How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (Teen fantasy)?
I’ve always been interested in fantasy and daydreams. I like the idea that in fantasy you can go anywhere and do amazing things at any moment in time.

3. Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
Yes. Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. My House in Umbria by William Trevor.

4. If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
The title would be Persistence.

5.  Which super power do you like to have and why?
I’d love to be able to just lift up and fly (that would be cheaper than paying for airline tickets) and you get to see a lot of the world while traveling!

6. If you could eat one food everyday of the rest of your list what would it be?
Cheese Pizza, definitely!

7. Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?
I read some here and there. I definitely try not to take it personally because it’s not personal, just someone’s opinion. Not everyone is going to like my work, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. I don’t let them influence the writing.

8. If you could write a novel with another author whom would it be and why?
I would have loved to work with C.S. Lewis. He had such a great childlike imagination.

9. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?
Elizabeth Bennett from Pride & Prejudice. It would be neat to meet the REAL Mr. Darcy.

10. Cake or Cookies?
Cookies!

11. Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
No, not really. I had a younger sister to hang out with so I guess I didn’t need an imaginary friend to keep me company.

12. Have you always wanted to be a writer or did to in-vision yourself doing another career when you were young?
Yeah, I’ve always wanted to be a writer, though I’d love to be a stunts-woman on the side.

--> Book Review: Chosen - by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast <--

TitleChosen
Author: P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
Number of Pages: 307
Published: Published March 4th 2008 by St. Martin's Griffin
Series: House of Night (#3)

GoodReads Info:

Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird’s adventures at the school take a mysterious turn.  Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies.  And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends.  So begins the gripping third installment of this “highly addictive series” (Romantic Times), in which Zoey’s mettle will be tested like never before.  Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn’t have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity.  Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare position of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster.  Just when it seems things couldn’t get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey’s horrid step-father in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres.  But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely reflects the truth…

My Thoughts: (I gave this book 5 Stars)

After reading the first and second book in this amazing series I knew Chosen must be good, even when I found mixed reviews about the third book, I just had to keep reading. I am SO glad I did. After reading Chosen I was more in love with this series. I believe this one was the best book thus far. Of course I am only on the 3rd book in the series. I just could not put it down. If I did and went to do something else I found myself thinking what will come next and the need to read more. Zoey the main character in Chosen has a lot to deal with in this book more than what she did in the past in the months she has been at the HON. We find Stevie Rae is the undead and Zoey is trying so hard to make her feel and "BE" normal again. Even with the help of Aphrodite, the person least likely to help her she struggles to find a way to change Stevie Ray back human. In the process of this she is dealing with not telling her friends about Stevie Rae and a lot more going on. Zoey falls more in love with Loren who she comes to find out is no good... I found myself feeling so sorry for Zoey more and more through-out this book and in the end leaving me to wonder what is happen next to Zoey and the nerd-herd. There is a lot to cover in this book, like why are teacher Vamps dieing and by who's hand? I am so looking forward to reading the next installment of this book and dig deeper into Zoey's world in the House Of Night! This book has been a true joy for me to read.

Expected Release Date: Sept 6, 2011
ISBN13: 9780061935107
Publisher: Harper Teen

Summary:
To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?

My Thoughts:
Simply exquisite cover! I am a big fan of the color white, and this cover makes me think of a cold snow storm where Firelight cover gave off the warmth of a blazing fire. I love the shimmer of her lips and the purple wording makes the cover come together nicely. This brilliant display of beauty in the new cover for Vanish would so draw me to pick of the book and buy!

--> Book Review: My Soul to Steal - by Rachel Vincent <--

Another review I am doing and I must say I loved this book most. My Soul to steal was the last book in the Soul Screams series by Rachel Vincent thus far. She is writing another one now and will be out Oct 1, 2011. I am so looking forward to reading more!

TitleMy Soul to Steal
Author:  Rachel Vincent
Number of Pages: 343
Published: Published January 4th 2011 by Harlequin (first published January 1st 2011)
SeriesSoul Screamers #4

GoodReads Info:

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

My Thoughts: (I gave this book 5 Stars)

I was hooked on this book from page one and it only got better. I really enjoyed the first three books of this series but I must say this one was my favorite. So if you have not read the book before this one you may not know a lot of what I am talking about so I very much recommend these amazing books. In My Soul to Steal, we find out that Kaylee and Nash are still on the rocks from what happen in the book before. Kaylee is not sure if she could ever forgive Nash for doing that he did. I was sad about this happening is so wanted to see Kaylee and Nash together again. When have Kaylee having to deal with this all something, or someone comes in the picture. Sabine! She is Nash's old girlfriend and now a new threat to Kaylee. We find out that Sabine is still in love with Nash and will fight for him. Kaylee is now torn with feeling very jealous but at the same time still not sure if you can forgive Nash. I did come to not like Kaylee a little at times in this book. She was not ready to take Nash back but feels no one else could have him. What else could go wrong? I LOT! Kaylee finds out Sabine is not human and could be feeding off her Nightmares. When a few teachers drop dead in school sleeping at there desk Kaylee feeling Sabine is behind this. Is she? Or is someone ELSE at work.  Well you will have to read this amazing book to find out... I wont giveaway anymore spoilers. All in all a awesome book and fast read that will leaving you wanting more!

--> Book Review: The Iron Daughter - by Julie Kagawa <--

I read The Iron Daughter about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to do a review since I loved this book amazing much. So here we go...

TitleThe Iron Daughter
Author:  Julie Kagawa
Number of Pages: 359
Published: Published August 1st 2010 by Harlequin Teen (first published July 27th 2010)
Series: Iron Fey #2

GoodReads Info:

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

My Thoughts: (I gave this book 4.5 Stars)

Well this is the second book in the Iron Fey series, if you have not read the first one I suggest you do to understand a lot of whats going on in this book. After reading the Iron King I feel in love with this series and now after reading The Iron Daughter I can say these books are one of my fave series I have read in a lot time.  I feel the whole storytelling of the Folklore was simply amazing. I felt like I was right along with Meghan in the book. So Meghan goes thought a LOT more trails in the book that keep you wanting more. She falls more in love with Ash and Puck comes back into the picture. She is now having mixed feeling about who she loves. She now knows that Puck is in love with her but she so deeply love Prince Ash. She is willing to risk her life for him.   She has to face a new evil, one she has been up against before to save her Prince and her own life. I did cry a bit because of some of the chapters were full or sadness and I know Meghan has so much to deal with.  I found that Meghan will do a lot more fighting in the next book, although the end of The Iron Daughter may show us otherwise. I really enjoyed this book and SO looking forward to read the 3rd novel soon. I believe that anyone who believes in Magic will love this book. Julie Kagawa does a remarkable job writing. Such a pure joy for me leaving me wanting more.

--> Book Review: Hush, Hush - by Becca Fitzpatrick <--

I read Hush, Hush by  Becca Fitzpatrick about 2 weeks ago and I decided I wanted to write a review on the book since I enjoyed it so much. It was a pure joy to read. I am SO wanting to read the next one, Crescendo.  I will be getting the book very soon.

TitleHush, Hush
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Number of Pages: 391
Published: Published October 13th 2009 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
SeriesHush, Hush #1

GoodReads Info:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

My Thoughts: (I gave this book 4 Stars)

Okay, I had mixed feeling with Hush, Hush. I loved it a lot. The character was very fun to read about and the storyline was amazing but I found the beginning of the book somewhat slow. I feel the author did not really get into what Patch was and all the action and amazing storyline until the middle-end of the book. I know she was building up the characters and storyline a lot which is good but I would have liked it to have gone a little faster to grab my attention more early on. Other than that I really enjoyed Hush, Hush. I have never read a novel with Fallen Angels. You read more into Patch's life and Nora find out some amazing things about his past. Somethings they both have to fight for in the end of the book. The love-hate romance between Nora and Patch was so enjoyable to read and I found myself falling for him. The author leaves you at the end wanting more and I would surely say who would not want more of Patch!
