They say first love never dies...

From critically acclaimed author Kate Ellison comes a heartbreaking mystery of mental illness, unspoken love, and murder. When sixteen-year-old artist Olivia Tithe is visited by the ghost of her first love, Lucas Stern, it’s only through scattered images and notes left behind that she can unravel the mystery of his death.

There’s a catch: Olivia has gone colorblind, and there’s a good chance she’s losing her mind completely—just like her mother did. How else to explain seeing (and falling in love all over again with) someone who isn’t really there?

With the murder trial looming just nine days away, Olivia must follow her heart to the truth, no matter how painful. It’s the only way she can save herself.

I am a sucker for a good ghost story. Anything where one of the characters in the book is dead is a huge plus for me. I have always loved movies and books where someone is dead and needs to move on but won't until their unfinished business is complete on earth. Examples: Ghost (movie), Casper (movie), or even Hereafter (book). Those are only a few of my favorites. After reading Notes from Ghost Town I can now say this book fits right in with those. There were so many emotions going through my head while reading. The story really tugged on my heart-strings and by the end I was still in awe by what really happen....

Olivia Tithe is in love with her best friend Lucas Stern. She has loved him since the day they meet and even now in death. Lucas was murdered and the one suspect just so happens to be Olivia's Mother. Her mother is not well. She is living in a mental institution waiting for the courts ruling. After Lucas's died everything chanced for Olivia, her life, her family, and her sight. Olivia is now color blind, she sees only in shades of black, grey, and white. On a day like no other her lost love Lucas appears to her as a ghost. At first Olivia thinks she is going crazy like her Mother and refuses to believe what she is seeing. Lucas does not give up and appears to her once more and does something to make Olivia believe that this is real. While Lucas has forgotten a lot of his life and some of his memories have been lost there is one thing he does remember that Olivia's Mother did NOT kill him. The killer is still out there.....

With her Mothers trial coming up soon, Olivia must uncover the truth of who really killed Lucas to clear her mothers name and the one person who can help is dead.

Will Lucas's true killer be found before it't to late?
The ending will leave you speechless....

I was instantly drawn to the story. From page one until the very end I was completely immersed in this book.
There was so much raw emotions put into the story. The author's writing style is almost lyrical. The words just flow off the page and into your heart. Olivia is such a strong willed protagonist. Even through all she had to endure she never faulted in trying to find the truth of who killed Lucas. Her love for him guided Olivia along the way. I almost always find something I don't like about a certain character in a book but Notes from Ghost town simply put was perfect. I think the only thing that keep me from giving the book a 5 star rating was that the pacing was a little slow during the middle. Although I flew through the ending trying to solve this mystery for myself.

Notes from Ghost Town is a beautifully haunting tale that will keep you guessing who the killer is.
Get your box of tissues ready because this epic love story is a guaranteed tearjerker.

  4. I have a strong belief that love does live beyond the grave. I also believe life continues in a spirit form.
Emotionally stimulating books cause deep feelings which is good.
