About Dark Seeker:For 17-year-old Seeker, Janie Grey, ridding the Baltimore streets of the undead is an inherited duty passed down from her Cherokee ancestors. Seeker Training Lesson #1: Never trust the undead. After her father’s tragic death, Janie creates her own life lesson: Love isn’t worth the risk. Both lessons are easy to follow until she encounters the flawed Kai Sterdam. At first, she believes he is the hybrid she is trained to hunt. But, when he has human traits, she determines she doesn’t know what he is. As Janie’s intrigue over who Kai is pushes her deeper into his mysterious past, she discovers a shocking truth that is even more harrowing than the evil they are up against. It’s a secret Kai wants to keep hidden, especially from Janie.

{My Love of Reading & Writing }
I started writing when my husband went across the country to train for a new job. At the time I was working full time, planning a national conference for my company, raising two very young children, selling our house in one state, and buying a house in another all by myself. To say the least, I was overwhelmed. That summer I read the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. Through her books I found the outlet that I needed (and developed a huge crush on Edward), so I decided to write my own book and I haven’t stopped writing since. Writing has become my passion and I'm ecstatic to be able to share my work with others.
I have a real emotional connection to Dark Seeker. Some scenes still bring me to tears. I also happen to have a crush on Kai. Plus, I love Janie, who I'm very proud of right now. She's a contestant in the YA Tournament of Heroines. So go VOTE for Janie! Janie is a very strong, independent female character who doesn't take lightly to assistance, especially from the opposite sex. Plus, she battles the undead and is a kick-butt heroine, a trait that I love in female characters. Each character in the book—good, bad, or both (sometimes it’s hard to determine)—has a unique personality and background. They definitely make the book fun to write, and read.
I love urban fantasy/paranormal romance. I’ve always been drawn to the genre— in books, television and movies. My favorite shows growing up were Buffy, Angel & Charmed. I also love The Vampire Diaries. My favorite childhood movie was The Lost Boys. Actually, during BEA this year I met Jason Patric (the big brother in The Lost Boys) in NYC. I had a huge crush on him as a teenager. Now, I have a photo of the two of us in an Irish Pub. It’s cool.
Some of my favorite authors and books are Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games), Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy), Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments), Lauren Oliver (Divergent), Stephenie Meyer (Twilight) and J.R. Ward (The Black Dagger Brotherhood). Both Katniss and Rose are examples of strong female characters who are smart, resourceful, and aren’t afraid to take chances, kick butt, and do whatever it takes to defeat the enemy.
Thank you, Beckie, for having me on your blog and being a part of the Dark Seeker blog tour. I've had a great time discussing my love of writing and reading.
