Before I begin my review for this book I want to thank the publisher of (HarperTeen) for sending me Poison Diares to read and the author as well, MaryRose Wood for writing such a amazing book.
All I can say is this book was way different from what I am used to reading but in a good way. It is rare to come across a book that just blows you mind while you are reading it. Nightshade did just that. The story was amazing and so very unique. There was never a dull moment, the book always could hold my attention, with new twist and turns that will leave you guessing.
Nightshade is the second book in the Pioson Dairies series and while I did not read the first one I found this one easy to pick up on what happen in the first. The story begins with a Father and Daughter. The heroine, Jessamine finds herself lost without her true love, Weed. Weed felt is needed to leave her because of the past events that have happen and her Father is to blame. Jessamine has now has taken on a hatred for her Father and plots to be rid of him for what he has done to Weed, and herself. She now finds out her Father caused the death of Mother. Which now causes her to take revenge and turn against him in the worst possible way. Jessamine will use her knowledge from the poison diary to poison and kill her Father. Jessamine needs run away from this evil she has done and find her true love, Weed. Although she does not know where Weed is - she will travel away from that life and try find him only to come across more trouble along the way. Someone in her past (The Prince of Poisons) now leads Jessamine on a path not her own away from Weed. This darkness begins to take over her mind and heart are turns her into someone who evil. Through this darkness Jessamine still finds she does still haves a bit of love and compassion for others, but will it be enough to find the man she loves and not let her self be turned over to the evil of the Price of Poisons. Will Jessamine follow her heart or be taken over by the evil within her or will true love cure her poisoned heart.
Nightshade was a blast to read. I adore the story-line and the character's was so unique and well thought-out. I so enjoyed the time in history in which the book was based in. I love reading about the past and the way people were treated for being diffrent. Jessamine character was cast out by people she was with at one point in the book, naming her witch because she could use plants and herbs a number of things (including cures for the sick), which did not makes sense to them. I really loved being able read about the time in history where things like that happen so easily. My heart went of to her and all of the hardships she went thought to try to find Weed. As well as Weeds Journey to find Jessamine. He was such a strong hearted and loving character. Weed would go to great lengths to be with his true love. I adore this book for having such a beautiful love story yet a mix of tragedy between Weed and Jessamine. The Author Maryrose Wood is such a brilliant writer, her story is flawless, both Weed and Jessamine are exquisite characters and will make her readers wonder what will happen next. I would so recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story with a great mysterious plot and a breathtaking love story.
