Synopsis via Goodreads:
The Good Girl Vs. The Player

Round one begins...

Trina Clemons needed the money. Why else would she - the most organized, prepared student in school - spend the summer as a nanny and partner with the biggest slacker ever? Now she's ready to tackle nannyhood with her big binder of research and schedules. Just don't ask her about the secret job of "fixing" the bad habits of a certain high school player...

Slade Edmunds prefers easy hook-ups, and Trina is definitely not his type. She's all structure and rules, while Slade wants to just have fun. Fortunately, Trina has no idea about the bet Slade made with his best friend that he can totally get her to unwind by the end of summer...

Then the weirdest thing happens. There's chemistry. A lot of it.

But nothing gets between a boy and a girl like a big, fat secret...

What Inspired Me to Write Playing the Player
by Lisa Brown Roberts

Playing the Player was one of those amazing writing gifts from the universe: the story idea just sort of dropped into my brain, fully formed: slacker nanny falls in love.

Slacker nanny? I wondered. What the heck? And then in my writer’s mind I suddenly saw Slade, this funny, sexy, party boy wrangling a couple of spazzy little kids at a museum, and my writer brain got very excited. Because, as Slade himself says, whoever heard of a guy nanny?

And then I thought, well he’s a total slacker, so of course he can’t handle this job on his own. He needs a super nanny as a partner. A girl, preferably one he doesn’t like, who will boss him around. Now my writer brain got very excited because the possibilities for conflict and combustion between these two were endless.

But as I started to write the first draft, something surprising happened. This, to me, is the best part of writing. Your characters take over and end up becoming more than you expected. And Slade did that in surprising ways. “Maybe I’m a slacker at school,” he told me, “but that’s only one part of me. You haven’t seen me under pressure.”

And my whole idea of who the slacker nanny was and who the super nanny was turned completely upside down.

Writing Playing the Player was one of the most fun writing experiences I’ve ever had. The story flowed so easily, and that doesn’t always happen for me. Slade and Trina are such vibrant characters, and I loved their opposites attract, enemies-to-lovers relationship so much that I just kept writing and writing.

I had a blast with Max and Gillian, too, the five-year-old BFFs who Slade and Trina are in charge of for the summer. I especially had fun with Gillian, who is hell-on-wheels, often reducing Trina to tears while Slade…well, I hope you’ll read the book to see just how Slade copes with a tiny rampaging redhead!

Thank you for hosting me on your blog today!

About The Author: Lisa Brown Roberts

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off her eyebrows and penciling them in for an entire school year. This and other painful memories inspire her to write books in which girls big on wit and heart earn happy endings with swoony guys...eventually.

Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.

The giveaway is a Nanny Survival Kit (nail polish, lip balm, journal, summer scrapbook stickers, love scrapbook stickers, love quote bookmark) for US winner or a $20 Amazon Gift Card if international!
